Five Ways Writing Helps Your Pilates Business

Do you need more Pilates clients? Writing effectively about Pilates, can help your business in many ways. If you need new clients, writing about your business can help you to get them in the door. If you want old clients to return, a newsletter can remind clients on a regular basis about your services and why they love taking Pilates with you. We are well into the Information Age and people want to know what they are getting into before they commit. Having social proof that is public is a great way to show people what you are all about. I wrote a digital workbook to help you get started writing about your Pilates business.

Here are five ways effective writing helps your Pilates business:

  1. Writing about your Pilates business helps people to know that you teach Pilates. How many times have you had a dear friend or family member ask you how the Yoga classes are going when you don’t even take Yoga? Nothing against Yoga, but that can be pretty frustrating when people don’t even know what you teach. Writing about Pilates reminds people what you do, why you do it and who you do it for. Writing regularly about your Pilates business makes your friends remember that you teach it. Then when they hear a friend or family member say they want to try Pilates, they are much more likely to recommend you.

  2. Writing about your Pilates business helps people to know what Pilates is. Especially in the US, Pilates is still a mystery to a lot of potential students. Some people need a slow trickle of information over time rather than a fire hose of a bunch of words they don’t understand. What is a Reformer? How can you exercise on a Cadillac? Does Rapunzel live in the Tower? How is this circle magic? Pilates was a person? Share what the stuff is and how it helps people. If you have some blog posts about equipment, you can even include them in an email with clients that have a lot of questions before their first session.

  3. You can share about what and who you like to teach! You can’t teach everyone. After a few years of teaching you will learn which demographics you enjoy teaching. Writing about how you serve those specific populations can help you get more of those students. If you love to teach people with hip and back pain, writing blog posts about how Pilates helps, can help you get more of those clients.

  4. You can be more clear with your language when you teach. Language is a huge part of teaching Pilates. There is a lot to consider when using your words to guide people through movement. Writing about Pilates can help you expand your imagery and help you be more creative with your movement instruction. We’ve all had that moment where people just lay there and have no clue what you want them to do. The more options you have at the tip of your tongue, the faster you can get them to move. Less confusion equals more client conversion with new students.

  5. Writing about Pilates helps you to talk about Pilates in person. If you are regularly writing about what you do and in a way that reaches your target audience, you can easily talk to people in person. How many times has someone asked you what Pilates is and you DREAD answering? That used to be me. Now I have no trouble talking to people about Pilates. I regularly write about Pilates, so I have lots of options for my different target audiences to help them understand what I do and how I can help them. Talking to someone in person effectively about Pilates can help you get new clients.

A lot of times people want to know what they are getting into before they buy. Most often you need to tell them what Pilates is. If you are going to try a new restaurant don’t you check out the website or their social media first? That way you know what kind of food they have, what the atmosphere is like and how to dress. Especially with Pilates, it is important to allow potential students to know what happens in your studio. People want to know what kind of equipment you have and why they would use it. They want to know what kind of classes you have and why they should take them. Writing effectively is more than just telling people a time for classes. You want to share what the experience will be like for them as a student. You want to tell them why they need to come. These are just a few reasons how writing about Pilates can help your business.
